A case has been filed against Dr Zahid Hasan and Dr Baset, leaders of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), a pro-BNP physicians’ organisation, alongside 15 to 20 unidentified individuals, over the assault and harassment of Kazi Ahmed Zaki, director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).

Zaki filed the case at Banani Police Station on Thursday.

Confirming the matter, Md Salahuddin, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station, said that the IEDCR director filed the case naming Zahid Hasan, Baset, and 15 to 20 unknown persons as accused.

On Wednesday, eight to nine outsiders entered the office of the IEDCR director and harassed and assaulted Zaki.

At the time of the incident, a meeting was taking place in the director’s room, attended among others by representatives from the World Health Organization, UNICEF, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States.
