Fazlee Shamim Ehsan has been elected as the new President of the Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) for the 2025-2027 term, while Tahmid Ahmed has been re-elected as Vice-President.
Ehsan, a prominent figure in Bangladesh’s garment industry, is known for his expertise in sustainable manufacturing, ethical business practices, and industry leadership.
As the Managing Director of Fatullah Apparels Ltd., a LEED Platinum-certified facility, Ehsan’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible production is evident. He also serves as the Executive President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), where he advocates for fair pricing and worker welfare.
Ehsan is a founding member of the Responsible Business Hub at BKMEA, furthering his efforts in ethical business practices.
Ehsan’s influence extends to broader industrial policy. He has served three terms on the BEF Executive Committee and has been a member of key labor policy reform committees. He also plays an international role as a Board Member of the International Apparel Federation (IAF) and Chairman of the STAR Network, a cross-Asian alliance for garment producer associations.
Tahmid Ahmed, director of Bengal Glass Works Limited, brings over 45 years of experience in the glass manufacturing industry. He has previously served on the BEF Committee and holds an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka.
Together, Ehsan and Ahmed’s leadership will guide BEF towards further industrial development and improved labor relations in the coming years.
