A festive journey home for Eid turned fatal as 15 people were killed when a rod‑laden truck overturned in Tangail early Monday.
Police confirmed the identities of the deceased, with nine victims from Rajendrabati and Pakuria villages in Manda upazila and one from Malanchi village in Niamatpur upazila of Naogaon.
The accident plunged the villages into mourning, with relatives wailing over the loss.
Family members said the victims were extremely poor, working in districts including Feni in scrap metal and human hair trade.
To save travel costs while returning home for Eid‑ul‑Adha, they had boarded the rod‑laden truck.
Relatives have travelled to Tangail to receive the bodies.
