In a statement released Thursday, the Council raised concerns about the safety and security of journalists covering the elections.
It stressed the importance of creating a free and secure environment where media workers can perform their duties without fear of threats or violence.
The statement reiterated the responsibility of the government, political parties, and law enforcement agencies to safeguard journalists and media outlets, ensuring they can report freely and without intimidation.
The Council also called for media organisations to be allowed to operate without interference during this critical period, with journalists given access to all necessary information to carry out their work effectively.
