The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday started a coordination meeting on law and order with the law enforcement agencies ahead of 13th national election.
The meeting, chaired by Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Mohammad Sanaullah, started around 9am at the EC conference room in Dhaka.
The Armed Forces Division’s Principal Staff Officer, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Director General of the Coast Guard, Inspector General of Police (IGP), and Director General of Ansar and Village Defence Force present at the meeting.
Representatives from National Security Intelligence (NSI), Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC), and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), among others, were present.
During the meeting, Commissioner Sanaullah said that coordination gaps have been observed within the committees formed nationwide for election management.
He added that field-level administration has been instructed to take a stronger role in preventing election-related violence.
