A total of 42,766 polling centres with 2,47,482 polling booths will be set up across the country for the 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum, Election Commission (EC) Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters at the Election Commission building, he said 7,85,225 election officials will be deployed to conduct the polls, including 42,779 presiding officers, 2,47,482 assistant presiding officers and 4,94,964 polling officers.
The EC secretary said the total number of registered voters stands at 12,77,11,793, of whom 6,48,25,361 are men, 62,885,200 are women and 1,232 are from the hijra community.
He added that the Election Commission is taking all necessary measures to ensure a smooth, orderly and credible voting process nationwide.
