Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has partnered with Proyash Institute of Special Education to help strengthen the school’s infrastructure for children with special needs.
At a ceremony held at the bank’s head office in Dhaka on March 16, EBL Head of Communications and External Affairs and Head of CSR Desk Ziaul Karim handed over a cheque to Proyash Institute Executive Director and Principal Colonel Md Altaf Ali psc.
Proyash is a non-profit charitable institution administered by the Bangladesh Army under the guidance of the Chief of Army Staff. The institute works for the holistic development of children with special needs.
Its programmes include Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education, Skill-Based Training, Extra-Curricular Activities, therapeutic services and other developmental initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Ziaul Karim said Proyash provides important support to communities of children with special needs through therapy, vocational training and skill development.
“Proyash Institute has been providing an excellent service to the special need requirement communities by providing the proper therapy, vocational and skill-based training and transforming them into active member of the society and providing the much-needed relief to the parents who are carrying the lifelong challenges. We are extremely delighted to be a part of this noble initiative undertaken by Proyash,” he said.
Proyash Institute Executive Director and Principal Colonel Md Altaf Ali said the support from EBL would help strengthen programmes designed to develop essential skills and improve employability for children with special needs.
“With the generous support of EBL, Proyash continues to strengthen individuals with special needs by developing essential skills, enhancing employability, and fostering social acceptance—empowering them to live with dignity and be valued members of an inclusive and compassionate society,” he said.
Among others present from Proyash were Vice Principal Afroza Sultana, HR Incharge Kawsari Warda and Head Teacher Sultan Ahmed.
EBL officials attending the event included Company Secretary Md Abdullah Al Mamun FCS, Head of Administration Maj Md Abdus Salam psc (Retd) and Head of Business Information Systems Md Maskur Reza FCA.
