Dhaka University (DU) authorities have imposed a ban on outside guests entering the campus and regulated vehicular movement on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.

“In the interest of overall security of Dhaka University and its students, on the occasion of the ‘FIFA World Cup 2026’, entry of outside guests to Dhaka University campus will be prohibited and vehicular movement will be regulated from today, June 24, 2026,” the notification stated.

During World Cup matches, entry of vehicles through all university entry points — Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, Burn Unit, Shib Bari Crossing, Fuller Road, Palashi Mor, and Nilakhet — will be restricted, the notification said.

Only vehicles with Dhaka University stickers, emergency services (ambulances, doctors, patients, journalists, ride-share, food vehicles, online shopping vehicles, and other government vehicles) will be allowed entry. Public transport and heavy vehicles will remain restricted at all times.

The notification added that the decisions may be re-evaluated from time to time based on stakeholders’ opinions, suggestions, and the actual situation. The restrictions come as authorities aim to maintain security on campus during the global football event.
