Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is celebrating 46 years in the film industry with a retrospective video highlighting some of the most memorable roles of his career, while also offering fans a first glimpse of his upcoming movie Digger.
The actor shared the montage on social media on Tuesday, reflecting on a career that has spanned nearly five decades and established him as one of Hollywood’s most enduring stars.
The video features scenes from several of Cruise’s iconic films, including Top Gun, Edge of Tomorrow, Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, Risky Business and Jerry Maguire, showcasing the wide range of characters he has portrayed throughout his career.
“For the last 46 years, it has been my privilege to work alongside countless talented artists and crews to create these characters, stories, and films for you all,” Tom Cruise wrote in the caption accompanying the post. “I’m looking forward to seeing you at the movies!”
The retrospective concludes with a sneak peek at Digger, the latest project from acclaimed filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
In the film, Cruise undergoes one of the most dramatic transformations of his career to portray Digger Rockwell, an oil tycoon whose company is believed to have triggered an environmental catastrophe with potentially global consequences. The character is seen sporting a thick Southern accent, a heavier physique and thinning white hair.
Veteran actor John Goodman plays an ailing US president who urges Rockwell to resolve the crisis. The cast also includes Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jesse Plemons.
Produced by Warner Bros., the film has been described as a “comedy of catastrophic proportions,” blending political satire with large-scale disaster elements.
The first full trailer for Digger is scheduled for release on July 13, while the film is set to arrive in theatres on October 2.
Cruise, whose recent work has been closely associated with the blockbuster Mission: Impossible franchise, remains one of the industry’s biggest advocates for the theatrical movie-going experience, frequently using his platform to encourage audiences to return to cinemas and support major film releases.
