Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Wednesday conducted a mobile court drive and inspection at Mominbagh lane in the capital’s Rajarbagh area to free roads and public walkways from illegal occupation and prevent the spread of dengue.
The drive commenced at 10am with DSCC Administrator Freedom Fighter Md Abdus Salam attending as the chief guest.
During the operation, officials removed stagnant water from roads, inspected the overall situation of the area, and identified potential Aedes mosquito breeding sites to take necessary action.
A mobile court led by DSCC Executive Magistrate Md Aminul Islam fined the authority of an under-construction building Tk5,000 due to accumulated water on its ground floor. The building owner and concerned personnel were warned to clear the water immediately and prevent such situations in the future.
Following the inspection, Administrator Freedom Fighter Md Abdus Salam called upon city residents not to allow water to accumulate at their residences, under-construction buildings, business establishments, and surrounding areas.
He also urged all concerned to refrain from creating obstacles or erecting structures that occupy roads, footpaths, and public walkways.
DSCC said that such activities will continue regularly to ensure unhindered public movement, keep roads and footpaths free from encroachment, and prevent dengue alongside other mosquito-borne diseases.
DSCC Chief Executive Officer Md Khaybor Rahman, Chief Waste Management Officer Air Commodore Mahbubur Rahman Talukdar, Chief Health Officer Jahane Ferdous Binte Rahman, and local leaders were present during the inspection.
