Director, screenwriter Dipankar Dipon has praised Redoan Rony’s latest Eid release ‘Domm’, calling it a standout moment for Bangladeshi cinema and a film best experienced on the big screen.
In a detailed Facebook post, Dipon said the film left a strong impression on him, describing it as a rare local production that made him envious as a fellow filmmaker. He noted that Domm loses much of its impact on smaller screens and is designed for a theatrical experience.
He also singled out lead actor Afran Nisho for his commanding screen presence, saying his performance consistently draws attention whenever he appears. He compared the effect to international and regional stars known for strong cinematic magnetism.
On the performances, Dipon praised Chanchal Chowdhury, describing him as consistently compelling and highly versatile across roles. He also highlighted Puja Cherry, noting that her performance revealed new depth, even as he remarked on her striking on-screen presence.
He further commended the film’s technical aspects, including its cinematography, sound design and background score, saying these elements significantly enhanced the viewing experience. While he admitted there were moments where the pacing felt slightly slow, he said the overall impact of the film stayed with him long after leaving the theatre.
Dipon concluded his post by suggesting that Domm deserves a director’s cut for international festival circulation, adding that the film carries strong creative ambition and emotional weight and reflects Rony’s distinctive filmmaking vision.
