Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is planning to use artificial intelligence (AI) not only in traffic management but also in controlling noise pollution, said DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan.

He made the remarks on Friday morning while attending a public awareness programme on noise pollution control in Gulshan, marking World Environment Day in the capital.

He said that if people develop the right mindset and remain conscious about the environment, any initiative can be implemented successfully.

“We are performing our duties, and those working on environmental issues should also come forward,” he said.

“We are not saying it can be done in a single day. We want to implement it together with stakeholders. We will all work together to control noise pollution,” he added.

Shafiqul Islam Khan said that Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport will remain completely noise-pollution controlled from now on. He warned that legal action would be taken in case of any violation.

He also claimed that AI has already shown success in traffic management on Dhaka’s roads.

“Alongside traffic control, we are planning to use AI for controlling noise pollution as well,” he said.
