A low-pressure system is likely to develop over the central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, bringing light to moderate rain or thundershowers across Bangladesh over the five-day period starting from 9am on Wednesday, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

In its regular bulletin, the Met office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, are likely at a few places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Similar rainfall is expected at one or two places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Daytime temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged, while night-time temperatures may fall slightly.

The bulletin said the monsoon remains less active over the southern and eastern regions of Bangladesh and weak over the North Bay.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the western part of Bangladesh and may withdraw from the rest of the country within the next 24 hours.
