An 18-month-old child has died in Faridpur while receiving treatment for measles symptoms, raising the district’s death toll from the disease to 21.
The deceased, Tanha, was the daughter of Din Islam from Hasan Dia village in Boalmari Upazila. She was admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital on Thursday and later succumbed while under care.
Over the past 24 hours, 62 new patients exhibiting measles symptoms have been admitted to various government hospitals in the district, according to the Civil Surgeon of Faridpur, Mahmudul Hasan. Of these, 41 patients have recovered and returned home after treatment.
Currently, 178 patients, mostly children, remain under medical care across the district’s hospitals.
The Civil Surgeon urged parents to ensure timely vaccination for their children and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as fever, cold, cough, or red rashes appear.
