Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman said the government will not spare ruling party leaders or activists if allegations such as extortion are proven against them.

He made the remarks at a press briefing at the Secretariat.

He also said action would be taken over the beating of a journalist allegedly by Chhatra Dal activists at Rajshahi University.

“The incident in Rajshahi is condemnable. The government will certainly take action against any crime,” Zahed said.

Referring to allegations against ruling party members, he added, “I am not saying that no one in the ruling party is doing anything. But the government is by no means sparing them.”

Asked about the ongoing energy crisis, Zahed said the sector was facing global instability and that monitoring was continuing through mobile courts.
