The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police filed 989 cases against traffic law violators during drives carried out across the capital on Saturday.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued on Sunday and signed by Deputy Commissioner of DMP Media and Public Relations Muhammad Talebur Rahman, PPM.
According to the press release, Traffic Mirpur Division recorded the highest number of cases, filing 390 cases involving two buses, 18 trucks, 17 covered vans, 34 CNGs and 241 motorcycles.
Traffic Motijheel Division filed 156 cases against five buses, six covered vans, 51 CNGs and 82 motorcycles, while Traffic Uttara Division registered 110 cases involving one bus, one truck, four covered vans, 10 CNGs and 52 motorcycles.
Traffic Gulshan Division recorded 100 cases involving three buses, one truck, one covered van, five CNGs and 33 motorcycles.
Traffic Wari Division filed 79 cases involving three buses, 10 trucks, seven covered vans, seven CNGs and 39 motorcycles, while Traffic Tejgaon Division registered 60 cases involving one bus, seven covered vans, eight CNGs and 21 motorcycles.
Traffic Lalbagh Division filed 56 cases against one bus, two trucks, two covered vans, five CNGs and 39 motorcycles, while Traffic Ramna Division recorded 42 cases involving one bus, one covered van, four CNGs and 17 motorcycles.
During the operations, police dumped 314 vehicles and towed away 172 vehicles.
The DMP said its Traffic Division will continue the drives to maintain traffic discipline across the Dhaka metropolitan area.
