Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 141 people allegedly involved in various crimes during separate drives in crime-prone areas under its Tejgaon and Motijheel divisions.
The operations were conducted on Wednesday, according to a press release issued by the DMP on Thursday.
DMP said 74 people were arrested during drives in different areas under the Tejgaon division. Of them, seven were arrested by Tejgaon Police Station, six by Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station, 24 by Mohammadpur Police Station, 18 by Adabor Police Station, seven by Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station and 12 by Hatirjheel Police Station.
In the Motijheel division, police arrested 67 people during separate operations. Among them, 21 were arrested by Mugda Police Station, 12 by Paltan Police Station, 13 by Motijheel Police Station, six by Khilgaon Police Station, six by Sabujbagh Police Station, five by Shahjahanpur Police Station and four by Rampura Police Station.
The DMP said legal action has been taken against the arrested individuals and they were later sent to the court.
Police said Wednesday’s operations were part of the DMP’s ongoing special drives aimed at curbing crime in the capital and ensuring public safety.
