Dismissed officers and employees from six Islamic banks staged a demonstration Sunday demanding reinstatement of their jobs.
They formed a human chain in the capital’s Motijheel, also calling for S Alam to take ownership of the banks.
The movement follows the 2024 political transition, which led to the reconstitution of boards at several S Alam‑controlled banks, including Islami Bank Bangladesh, Union Bank, First Security Islami Bank, and Social Islami Bank.
These administrative changes resulted in the dismissal of hundreds of employees, many of whom are now mobilising for reinstatement.
