Veteran actress Dilara Zaman returns to the screen with ‘Dadir Bhaag’, a moving seven-part drama that centres on the quiet strength and emotional resilience of a grandmother navigating family bonds and inheritance disputes.
The series, written by Bidyut Roy from an original story by Jamil Hossain and directed by Mahfuz Islam, will stream on Jamil’s Zoo YouTube channel.
Alongside Dilara Zaman, the cast includes Jamil Hossain, Munmun Ahmed Mun, Naresh Bhuiyan, Reshma Ahmed, Mom Shiuli, Amin Azad and Suchana, among others.
At the heart of Dadir Bhaag is not only a generational story but also a real-life partnership. The lead roles are played by newlyweds Jamil Hossain and Munmun Ahmed Mun, whose on-screen chemistry blossomed into romance and eventually marriage earlier this year.
Munmun, a Dhaka native who began her career in modelling before making her mark in television, describes working alongside the celebrated Dilara Zaman as a personal milestone.
“Acting with Dilara Zaman was a lifelong dream,” she said. “She’s such an icon of grace and generosity. Playing her granddaughter felt surreal. She treats everyone on set with genuine warmth. It’s been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career.”
For Dilara Zaman, who continues to shine in the Deepto TV serial ‘Bokulpur’, Dadir Bhaag offered an opportunity to explore the emotional complexities of ageing, love and family loyalty.
“The story really touched me,” she reflected. “It’s about what happens when a grandfather leaves his entire estate to his wife and how the family responds to that decision. The team was wonderful to work with and Munmun is such a talented young woman. I pray she continues to thrive.”
Munmun recently made her comeback to television in ‘Bidesh Ferot’, directed by Sagar Jahan for RTV, while Dilara Zaman’s performance in Dadir Bhaag reaffirms her place as one of Bangladesh’s most enduring screen legends.
