State Minister for Land and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin on Thursday said all digital services and software used by the Ministry of Land had been developed by Bangladeshi engineers using home-grown technology.
Speaking as chief guest at the orientation programme for the 2025–26 academic session of the Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), he said the ministry’s digital platforms had been developed at low cost, with one of its key software systems created by a CUET student.
Addressing the newly admitted students, the state minister said securing admission to CUET placed them among the country’s most talented young people. He encouraged them to develop a research-oriented mindset and strengthen their professional skills to make the most of their higher education.
He noted that CUET graduates were serving with distinction at leading global technology companies, including Google, Amazon, Tesla, Siemens and Samsung, contributing to Bangladesh’s international reputation. He expressed confidence that the current batch of students would also establish themselves on the global stage.
State minister noted that essential services, including land development tax payments, mutations, and e-Porcha, are now available online. He also mentioned the “Bhumi Drishti” app, which utilises geo-fencing technology to monitor the attendance and activities of field-level officials.
In his concluding remarks, minister advised students to stay away from drugs, describing them as a threat that destroys talent and potential. He encouraged them to face life’s challenges with self-confidence and a positive outlook.
The ceremony was presided over by Professor Md Saiful Islam, Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare at CUET. CUET Vice-Chancellor Mahmud Abdul Motin Bhuiyan, along with deans of various faculties and other faculty members, were also present as special guests.
