Vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway was disrupted for two hours on Tuesday as workers from Nasa Group blocked the road at Paduar Bazar in Cumilla district, demanding payment of their dues.
Witnesses reported that several workers from Nasa Group, who are employed at the EPZ, began their protest around 10 am by blocking the highway. The demonstration caused a significant traffic jam on both sides of the highway.
On receiving the information, police swiftly arrived at the scene and worked to bring the situation under control, according to Abdul Momin, Officer-in-Charge of Mainamati Highway Police Station.
Traffic resumed normal flow around 12 pm after the police dispersed the workers, having assured them that their demands would be addressed.
