Bangladesh continues to battle a surge in dengue cases, with health authorities confirming 437 new infections and three additional deaths in the past 24 hours.
According to a statement issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the fresh cases include 113 hospitalisations in Barishal division, 81 in Chattogram, 76 in Dhaka division excluding the capital, 83 in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 53 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Other divisions also reported new patients, with 10 in Mymensingh, 48 in Rajshahi, and 2 in Sylhet.
Since the beginning of this year’s outbreak, 125 people have died from dengue, while 32,501 individuals have been infected across the country.
The previous year saw the one of the highest toll on record, with 575 fatalities and 101,214 reported cases nationwide.
