The deep depression over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal coast moved west‑northwest and crossed the West Bengal–Odisha coast around 6am Tuesday.
It is now lying over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal coastal areas. It is likely to continue moving west‑northwest and gradually weaken.
Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the north Bay, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra seaports have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No. 3.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
The National Disaster Response Coordination Centre issued the advisory.
