Zia Shishu Academy has announced the return of its flagship children’s talent competition, Shaplakuri, with Channel i set to broadcast the event live for the first time.
Held under the slogan “Where there is talent, there we are,” the 14th edition aims to discover gifted young performers from across Bangladesh.
Registration is now open and will continue until 20 August.
Organisers announced at a press conference on Sunday that the competition will feature six categories: Qirat, recitation, acting, music, dance and instrumental music.
Preliminary rounds will be held across 12 regions, with regional winners advancing to the national stage.
The competition includes 15 individual and three group categories.
Each participant may compete in up to three individual events and one group event.
Winners will be selected in every category, while two overall Shaplakuri Champions will also be crowned based on their overall performance.
Speaking at the launch, Channel i Managing Director Faridur Reza Sagar highlighted the importance of nurturing young talent, saying today’s children are the artists of tomorrow and that such platforms help shape the country’s future cultural landscape.
The press conference was attended by Women and Children Affairs Minister AZM Zahid Hossain, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy MP, Zia Shishu Academy Director General Humayun Kabir, Nazrul music artistes Ferdous Ara and Fatema Tuz Zohra, along with several cultural figures. Raju Alim is serving as the project director.
