The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has signed Memoranda of Cooperation (MoCs) with three leading Chinese chambers to enhance bilateral relations and expand business cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
The agreements were signed on 18 April 2026, in Guangdong, China, with the Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers & Exporters (GDCCIE), the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products (CCCME), and the Guangzhou Chamber of Commerce for Outbound Business.
DCCI Senior Vice President Razeev H Chowdhury, who led the delegation, signed the MoCs on behalf of his organisation alongside representatives of the respective Chinese chambers.
Members of the visiting DCCI delegation also participated in the “Trade Bridge – Bangladesh Matchmaking Event” held at the China Foreign Trade Centre during the 139th Canton Fair on the same day. They engaged in B2B sessions and exchanged information with approximately 270 Chinese companies.
Speaking at the business discussion session, Rajeev H Chowdhury said China is one of the driving forces of global trade and a leading producer of various goods. He noted that a significant portion of Bangladesh’s imports comes from China, amounting to approximately $18 billion in the last fiscal year.
China is the fifth-largest foreign investor in Bangladesh, with Chinese entrepreneurs already investing around USD 1.7 billion across various sectors, he added.
Chowdhury highlighted immense potential for bilateral cooperation and investment in sectors such as agro-processing, infrastructure development, renewable energy, shipbuilding, automotive, light engineering, semiconductors, and high-tech industries.
He also emphasised that entrepreneurs from both countries could benefit from innovative partnerships in areas including startups, fintech, agri-tech, artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and supply chain technologies.
Director of CCPIT Qiu noted that Nansha, China, holds a strategically important geographic position and recorded a regional GDP exceeding RMB 240 billion in 2025, adding that there were strong prospects for joint collaboration in specialised industrial clusters such as automobiles, shipbuilding, and biomedicine.
Guangdong Chamber of Commerce of Importers & Exporters President Wu Shaowei remarked that Bangladesh can play a vital role in facilitating market access for Guangdong-manufactured products to South Asian countries.
CCCME Vice President Shi Yonghong described the 139th Canton Fair as a key hub for global business collaboration, noting that the fair would play an important role in enhancing relationships between Bangladeshi entrepreneurs and Chinese manufacturing enterprises.
