The government has formed a six-member investigation committee to look into the bus accident at Gaultidya Ghat in Goaland Upazila, Rajbari, where a passenger bus fell into the Padma River while boarding a ferry.
The incident occurred on 25 March, resulting in at least 26 deaths.
The committee, constituted by the Ministry of Shipping, is tasked with investigating the cause of the accident and identifying those responsible.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping Md Muhidul Islam has been named convener of the panel, according to an official order issued on Thursday.
Other members include representatives from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari, the Water Police, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), and the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department.
The committee has been instructed to submit its investigation report within three working days. It may also co-opt additional members if deemed necessary, the order stated.
