The nomination paper of LDP candidate Ayakub Ali has been declared invalid for the Chattogram-12 (Patiya) seat in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election after he was listed as a loan defaulter.

The district administration and returning officer, Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia, declared his nomination invalid on Saturday during the scrutiny process held at the Chattogram Deputy Commissioner’s conference room. According to Bangladesh Bank records, Ayakub Ali’s name appears among defaulters.

A total of 11 candidates had submitted nomination papers for Chattogram-12, including BNP nominee Enamul Haque and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Faridul Alam.

The nomination papers of both BNP and Jamaat candidates were approved as valid. The scrutiny process continued until 1:30 pm.

“The election is not merely about a change of seats; it will shape the future framework of Bangladesh,” said Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia, serving as both returning officer and district commissioner.
