A Dhaka court has ordered a fresh investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into a case accusing actress Tanjin Tisha of fraud, breach of trust and intimidation, rejecting an earlier police inquiry report.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam issued the order on Sunday, 25 October, after hearing a petition challenging the previous report submitted by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). The court has set 31 December as the deadline for the CID to submit its findings.
The order followed a no-confidence petition, known as a naraji, filed by the plaintiff. The judge heard the petition, recorded witness statements and directed the CID to conduct a comprehensive further investigation.
According to the earlier PBI report, the plaintiff, a fashion designer who runs a studio on Road 127 in Gulshan, became acquainted with Tisha through fashion events and award shows.
The case centres on a saree valued at Tk75,000 that Tisha allegedly took on 13 December 2024 through her former driver for an event, with an agreement to return it the following day.
The PBI report said the saree was not returned immediately, leading to disputes between the two parties through messages in late 2024 and 2025. Tisha reportedly said she had forgotten about the item after her former driver left the job without returning it.
She eventually returned the saree by post on 31 March 2026. However, the plaintiff challenged the PBI findings, prompting the court to order further investigation. The allegations remain under investigation.
