Fire Service and Civil Defence Directorate provided fire safety training to members of Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) to improve journalists’ preparedness for emergencies while covering incidents.
The two-day training programme was held on Sunday and Monday at the conference room of Fire Service headquarters, where 48 CRAB reporters received practical training on firefighting, emergency rescue procedures, first aid, earthquake management and personal safety measures during news reporting, said a press release.
Director General of Fire Service and Civil Defence Brigadier General Muhammad Zahed Kamal, NDC, AFWC, PSC inaugurated the training.
The inauguration programme was attended by Fire Service Director (Training, Planning and Development) Lt Col MA Azad Anwar, PSC; Dhaka Division Deputy Director Md Saleh Uddin, BFM (Bar); Assistant Director (Training) Md Mostafa Mohsin, BFM; and CRAB General Secretary MM Badsha, among others.
During the sessions, participants received hands-on guidance on handling fire emergencies, conducting rescue operations and maintaining personal safety while collecting news from hazardous locations.
Lt Col MA Azad Anwar attended the closing ceremony on Monday and distributed certificates among the participants.
The training was organised as part of efforts to enhance journalists’ awareness and skills in responding to fire and other emergency situations, according to the Fire Service Media Cell.
