The first trailer for ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ has been unveiled, marking the long-awaited arrival of the hybrid live-action and animated film, which is now set for a theatrical release on August 28.
Directed by Dave Green, the film centres on the iconic Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote as he takes legal action against the fictional Acme Corporation, blaming its faulty products for his repeated failures to catch the Road Runner. Will Forte stars as his lawyer, while John Cena appears as the opposing counsel.
The screenplay draws inspiration from a satirical magazine piece that imagines a courtroom battle involving the cartoon brand. The film blends legal comedy with familiar animated figures, including appearances from characters such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.
Despite being completed several years ago, the project faced uncertainty after its original distributor decided not to release it as part of a wider shift in strategy.
‘Coyote vs. Acme’ was later acquired by a new distributor, paving the way for its eventual global rollout.
