A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of two flats in South Khilgaon owned by former Customs, Excise and VAT Assistant Commissioner Bhuiya Mofizur Rahman and his wife Dilshad Jahan Lucy.
The order was issued on Wednesday by Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court, following a request from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), according to court sources.
The ACC’s petition stated that Bhuiya Mofizur Rahman and Dilshad Jahan Lucy are accused of acquiring and possessing undisclosed assets worth Tk92.10 lakh in violation of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act.
The commission added that during the investigation, reliable sources indicated the couple were attempting to transfer, relocate, or dispose of their flats and other assets. If successful, this could obstruct the seizure of properties obtained from illicit income following the court’s verdict.
To ensure a fair investigation, uphold justice, and safeguard the future seizure of assets for the state, the ACC requested the court to seize both flats, which it approved.
