Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC Bangladesh Operations has opened a new sub-branch and Offshore Banking Unit (OBU) at Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) to expand banking and trade finance services for export-oriented industries.
The bank said the new unit has been strategically established to serve businesses operating in the industrial and commercial hub of DEPZ.
The facility will provide offshore banking, general banking and trade finance services tailored for export-oriented industries.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon said the expansion is aimed at strengthening financial support for industrial clients and facilitating international trade transactions linked to Bangladesh’s export sector.
The new facility was inaugurated on Tuesday, according to a press release.
Commercial Bank of Ceylon CEO Najith Meewanage and DEPZ Executive Director Md Shariful Islam jointly inaugurated the sub-branch and OBU.
Senior bank officials attending the ceremony included Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer Haily Algewatte and Deputy CEO and Head of Corporate Banking Mahmud Hossain.
Corporate clients, business leaders, DEPZ officials and bank employees also attended the event.
