Liberation War Affairs State Minister Ishraque Hossain has held a meeting with the Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation Abdus Salam regarding issues concerning the Dhaka metropolitan area.
He stated that following the directives of the prime minister, collapsed service structures will be revitalised at the earliest possible time. Appropriate steps will be taken concerning dengue and waterlogging.
The state minister arrived at Nagar Bhaban on Saturday afternoon and discussed civic issues of the capital with Administrator Abdus Salam. He informed journalists that discussions also covered the need for road maintenance in various parts of the city. The state minister emphasised the importance of coordinated efforts among all concerned to address potential waterlogging during the monsoon season and other problems.
Regarding city corporation elections, he stated that he would only participate in the elections if the party nominates him and a party decision is made. He is currently serving as a Member of Parliament for the Dhaka-6 constituency.
Ishraque Hossain also raised allegations of an abnormal number of votes received by a rival political party in the recent national parliamentary election. He stated that in his constituency, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami had received a maximum of three thousand votes in the past, but their received votes this time were beyond imagination. Demanding verification of the voter list in this regard, he said it should be examined whether there are any irregularities or duplications in the voter list.
The Dhaka-6 MP also emphasised completing necessary processes, including correcting the voter list, for the sake of a fair election.
Previously, Ishraque Hossain had participated in the 2020 city corporation election as a BNP candidate.
