A series of cocktail explosions outside a polling centre in Munshiganj briefly disrupted voting on Thursday morning.
At around 10:30am, around 12 to 15 cocktail-type explosives were allegedly detonated in a field adjacent to the Makuhati Gurucharan JC High School polling station in Sadar upazila.
Witnesses said panic spread among voters and polling officials as a series of blasts went off in rapid sequence.
One person was seen lying injured in the field following the explosions.
Authorities immediately shut the school’s main gate, suspending voting for about 10 minutes. Polling later resumed after security forces brought the situation under control.
In a separate incident, Anowara Begum collapsed shortly after casting her vote at the Maheshpur Government Primary School polling centre. Witnesses said she fell to the ground while leaving the premises.
Preliminary reports suggest she may have suffered a cardiac arrest. Officials are reviewing the circumstances surrounding her death.
Voting at both centres resumed and continued after the incidents.
