A joint operation by the Bangladesh Coast Guard and the Navy recovered two locally made firearms and four rounds of live ammunition in Moheshkhali, Cox’s Bazar.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, Coast Guard media officer, confirmed the seizure on Sunday.
He said the operation began at 5am on Sunday after the forces received intelligence about a hideout used by “criminals” in Mahuri Ghona area of Dhalghata under Moheshkhali Police Station.
Units from the Coast Guard’s Moheshkhali and Teknaf stations took part in the raid alongside the Navy.
The suspects fled as the joint team approached the location.
The forces then searched the hideout and recovered the firearms and ammunition.
Officials said legal procedures regarding the seized weapons and ammunition were underway.
