Vidya Balan is making her Tamil cinema comeback with a major role opposite Rajinikanth in ‘Jailer 2’, marking the actors’ first screen collaboration.
The makers introduced Vidya’s character Kantha on Sunday, 20 September, through a character teaser. Dressed in a blue saree and smoking a cigarette, the actor makes a striking entrance, offering a glimpse of the mysterious and commanding role she plays in the sequel.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, ‘Jailer 2’ follows Rajinikanth’s 2023 blockbuster ‘Jailer’.
Rajinikanth returns as Muthuvel Pandian, popularly known as Tiger, with SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu also part of the cast.
Produced by Sun Pictures, the action sequel is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 15 October 2026.
The film also marks Vidya’s return to Tamil cinema after her cameo in ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ in 2019.
