The creators of ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ are considering bringing back one of the most recognisable elements of the franchise for its upcoming second season.

Actor Michael C. Hall, who returns as serial killer Dexter Morgan and also serves as an executive producer, recently revealed that there are discussions about restoring the show’s iconic opening title sequence.

Speaking on the red carpet at the Saturn Awards, Hall said the production team hopes to reintroduce the original-style credits that helped define the earlier seasons of Dexter. He acknowledged that budget considerations may complicate the plan, but indicated that the team is optimistic about finding a way to make it happen.

The memorable title sequence from the original series depicted Dexter carrying out an ordinary morning routine. Scenes such as preparing breakfast, shaving and dressing were filmed in a way that made simple actions appear tense and slightly sinister. As the sequence unfolded, viewers realised that the activities were harmless, even though they had initially seemed threatening.

The sequence was created by the studio Digital Kitchen, with creative direction by Eric Anderson and editing by Anderson and Josh Bodnar. The music was composed by Daniel Licht. Its distinctive design earned an Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Main Title Design in 2007 and quickly became one of the most recognisable openings in modern television.

A variation of the sequence later appeared in the prequel series ‘Dexter: Original Sin’, while ‘Dexter: New Blood’ opted for a shorter montage instead of the detailed morning routine.
The original credits became so widely known that they were even parodied in an episode of ‘The Simpsons’, where Ned Flanders was shown going about his daily routine in a similarly ominous style.

If the plan moves forward, the return of the opening sequence in the next season of Dexter: Resurrection could restore a familiar element of the franchise that many long-time fans remember fondly.
