Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury urged Deputy Commissioners to act as a strong bridge between the government and the people and carry out duties with honesty and dedication.
He made the remarks at a courtesy meeting with divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners at the Supreme Court auditorium on Tuesday afternoon, marking the Deputy Commissioner Conference-2026.
The chief justice described deputy commissioners as the “reflection of the government” at the field level.
He called on them to remain accountable to the people, society and the state in discharging responsibilities.
He also stressed the need for personal integrity and awareness of responsibility to their own conscience.
Justices of the Appellate Division, Cabinet Secretary, Supreme Court Registrar General and officials of the Supreme Court Registry were present at the programme.
Divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners from across the country also attended the meeting.
