The most talked-about film of this year’s Eid-ul-Azha, ‘Rockstar’ starring Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan and directed by Azman Rusho, has officially partnered with leading OTT platform Chorki as its exclusive streaming partner.
The announcement was confirmed on Sunday (May 11) through the verified Facebook pages of both the film and Chorki.
Interest in ‘Rockstar’ had already surged following the release of its first teaser on May 5, which quickly became a trending topic both in Bangladesh and abroad. The teaser, featuring Shakib Khan in the role of a musician, sparked widespread discussion for his refreshed look and unconventional character portrayal, marking a notable departure from his usual action-hero image.
Speaking about the collaboration, Chorki CEO Redoan Rony said the platform has consistently aimed to support quality productions and believes that the synergy between cinema halls and OTT platforms is shaping the future of the industry. He added that ‘Rockstar’ aligns with Chorki’s commitment to bringing strong storytelling to audiences.
Director Azman Rusho, who previously worked as a musician, shared that the film is inspired by his own experiences and observations of real-life musicians. He described Chorki as a trusted platform for content distribution and said its professionalism encouraged the partnership.
Executive producer Ajoy Kumar Kundu noted that Chorki was chosen to ensure the film reaches a wider audience both at home and abroad following its theatrical run.
In ‘Rockstar’, Shakib Khan appears not as a typical, generic gangster or action figure but as a professional musician. The actor reportedly underwent physical transformation for the role.
The film’s music is composed and written by Ahmed Hasan Sunny, who also lends his voice to the tracks, while music direction is handled by Zahid Nirob.
Produced under Sun Motion Pictures Limited and presented by Anjan Chowdhury Pintu, the film’s screenplay is written by Nusrat Maati, with dialogues by Ayman Asib Shadhin and Samiul Bhuiyan.
Directed by Azman Rusho, ‘Rockstar’ is expected to portray the struggles, rise, and emotional journey of a musician. After its theatrical release during Eid-ul-Azha, the film will be available for streaming on the Chorki app and website, although the official OTT release date has yet to be announced.
