As 2025 ended, Abul Hayat, Rosey Siddiqui, Saberi Alam, Mousumi Nag, Arosh Khan, Sunerah Binte Kamal, Sohel Mondol and Fariha Rahman were seen chatting together. Influencer, writer and vocalist Raba Khan moderated the conversation, bringing together some of the country’s most popular artists from different generations.
According to Abul Hayat, it was a family chat. But how are they all related? The answer lies in the upcoming series ‘Aatka’, where all of them appear as members of the same family. That is why the gathering felt like a family affair.
Aatka, a family-centred drama full of twists, is an original series from the country’s popular OTT platform Chorki. The series will premiere on the platform at 12:00 am on January 15.
The series is produced by Arafat Mohsin Nidhi, with the story, screenplay and dialogues written by Raba Khan. This marks the first time the duo has worked together as storytellers and producers on a series.
So, what does Aatka mean?
Raba and Nidhi explain that the word refers to something sudden and is commonly used in everyday conversation. Speaking about how the title was finalised, Raba said, “One day, Nidhi and I were discussing possible names over the phone. During the conversation, he used the word ‘Aatka’ several times. We realised it could work like the title. After many discussions and debates, we settled on it.”
The idea for Aatka first came to Raba and Nidhi in 2023. From the outset, they envisioned it as a family drama infused with elements of horror and comedy. The synopsis was written towards the end of 2024, with the remaining work completed after Chorki came on board.
In addition to the main cast, the series also features Mukul Shiraj, Sumon Anowar, Tonmoy Parvez, Durjoy, Alif Khan, Fardeen Khan, Fahad Reaz Khan, Daliya and Abu Nayem.
