Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin arrived in Cox’s Bazar on Friday evening for a three-day personal visit.
The CEC reached Cox’s Bazar Airport from Dhaka via a flight at approximately 5pm. Upon arrival, he was welcomed by Deputy Commissioner Md A Mannan and Superintendent of Police ANM Sajedur Rahman, along with other senior officials of the district administration.
Following his arrival, his motorcade proceeded to the Cox’s Bazar Circuit House, where he is scheduled to stay overnight.
According to an office order issued by the Election Commission Secretariat, Nasir Uddin will depart for his birthplace in Kutubdia on Saturday morning. He will visit the graves of his parents to offer prayers before returning to Cox’s Bazar on Saturday afternoon, where he will spend another night at the Circuit House.
Deputy Commissioner Md A Mannan confirmed to journalists that the CEC is on a private visit and is scheduled to depart Cox’s Bazar for Dhaka by air on Sunday morning.
Born on July 1, 1953, in the Kutubdia upazila of Cox’s Bazar, Nasir Uddin recently administered the oath to the newly elected members of the 13th National Parliament on 17 February.
As the Speaker of the Parliament was absconding, the CEC performed the duty in accordance with established protocol.
