Police recovered the headless body of a cattle trader from the Gowrichanna canal in Barguna Sadar.
Barguna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Alim confirmed the matter around 11:30am on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Md Shamim Bepari, 40.
Earlier, at around 10:30 am, locals alerted police after spotting blood-stained clothing and shoes lying beside the canal. Police then recovered the headless body, which was later identified by Shamim’s relatives.
The victim’s father, Mansur Ali Bepari, said Shamim had left home for Gowrichanna Bazar on Sunday. Relatives began searching for him after his mobile phone was found switched off.
