Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has congratulated the Bangladesh National Football Team for their 1-0 victory over India in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers, marking the nation’s first competitive win against India in 22 years.
In a statement issued by CA’s press office at noon. Professor Muhammad Yunus said the victory was more than a football result. “It is an inspiration for young people who see sports as a source of positive energy,” he said.
He added that sports play a key role in nation-building and that the win against a strong rival like India represents an important milestone.
“Since taking office in 2024, the interim government has been providing support to football,” he said. Professor Muhammad Yunus is hopeful that future governments will continue this trend.
