Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has commended Election Commission (EC) for announcing the schedule for the 13th parliamentary election and the July Charter referendum.

In a statement, Yunus said the announcement represents a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s democratic journey.

“Following the historic mass uprising, the country is advancing on a new path. This election and referendum will solidify that trajectory, prioritise the voice of the people, and further consolidate the foundation of a new Bangladesh,” he said.

Addressing political parties, candidates, the media, civil society, and the public, he urged everyone to approach the elections and referendum as a national endeavor for unity.

“Respect for dissenting views, a peaceful environment, and democratic conduct will ensure greater stability in the coming days,” he said.

Yunus concluded, “Bangladesh stands at the threshold of a new future. With active participation and responsible conduct from all, I am confident we will succeed in building a modern, just, and prosperous nation.”
