Public access to the Savar National Memorial will remain suspended from 13 to 15 December to ensure cleaning and preparations ahead of Victory Day 2025, according to a government notice issued on Thursday.
The notice also said entry will remain restricted on 16 December until 8:30am, after VVIPs, VIPs and invited guests finish placing wreaths and leave the memorial premises.
Authorities have prohibited posters, banners and festoons along the road from Dhaka’s Gabtoli to the National Memorial as part of the day’s observance.
The public has been requested to avoid causing any damage to the flower garden while placing wreaths at the memorial on Victory Day.
Preparations are underway nationwide for special programmes marking 16 December.
On Victory Day, the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force will conduct separate fly-past demonstrations from 11am at Dhaka’s old Tejgaon airport, accompanied by a special band show.
A press release from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing said that from 11:40am, 54 paratroopers from “Team Bangladesh” will perform a flag-bearing skydiving display to mark 54 years of independence
