A joint team of RAB-1 and Gazipur Sadar Police Station has detained Minhajul Abedin Konok, a local Jubo League leader accused in multiple drug cases, from Ward No. 27 in the Lakshmipur area of Gazipur.

He was detained during a joint drive at his residence at around 8:30pm on Wednesday. Information regarding his detention became known later at around 9pm. He was subsequently handed over to Gazipur Sadar Police Station for further legal action.

Konok is locally known as a Jubo League leader. It is reported that multiple drug cases and cases under the Anti-Terrorism Act are pending against him.

Locals alleged that Konok had long been involved in various criminal activities in the area, including publicly selling drugs and mugging. Residents also collected mass signatures and submitted a memorandum demanding action against these activities.

Moreover, local sources claimed that allegations against him were under surveillance at the levels of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner, the relevant cell of Police Headquarters, and the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Local residents expect that lawful measures will be taken through a fair investigation into the allegations and cases against him. However, no official statement has been available from the relevant authorities regarding these allegations.
