Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the country and the global Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a message issued on Sunday marking Ramadan, he conveyed the greetings.
“On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, I extend my sincere greetings to the people of the country and Muslims across the world,” he said. “Ramadan is a month of self-restraint, sacrifice, compassion and spiritual purification. Through fasting, charity and worship during this sacred month, believers attain spiritual refinement and have the opportunity to strengthen mutual compassion and harmony, as well as seek the pleasure, closeness and forgiveness of Almighty Allah.”
“The holy month of Ramadan inspires us in our individual and national lives to shun injustice, corruption and wrongdoing and to build a society founded on justice and welfare,” he said.
“Alongside worship, the month teaches morality and humanity through the practice of truthfulness, fairness, honesty and mutual empathy, and awakens a sense of responsibility towards the poor and the deprived.”
Urging all to be guided by the teachings of Ramadan and to avoid extravagance, envy and hatred, he said, “With the aim of attaining the pleasure of Almighty Allah, let us devote ourselves more to worship, recitation of the Holy Qur’an, prayers, repentance and good deeds, and uphold the sanctity of Ramadan. May Almighty Allah accept our fasting, prayers, charity and all righteous deeds.”
“May Almighty Allah grant us forgiveness and protection, and bless the country and the nation with peace and prosperity, Ameen,” he added.
