Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday participated in the opening session of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters in New York.
During the period, he was accompanied by Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain and Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, reports BSS.
Before the session began, Prof Yunus held separate meetings with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, former Chilean president Michelle Bachelet—who also served as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights between 2018 and 2022—and World Bank President Ajay Banga.
The chief adviser is scheduled to meet the director-general of the World Trade Organization at 10:30am, followed by a discussion with the World Bank president at 11am. Later, at 11:30am, he will meet with Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
In the afternoon, Yunus will attend the Fashion for Development (F4D) 13th Annual Official First Ladies Luncheon at 12:30pm.
At 2:45 pm, he is expected to take part in a high-level dialogue on “Social Innovation: Mobilizing Financing through Social Innovation”, bringing together public and private sector leaders.
The day will conclude with a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at 7pm.
