Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed July Uprising Day 2026 on Thursday with a discussion and prayers session at its International Conference Hall.
BUBT Board of Trustees members, faculty members, officers, administrative staff, students and family members of July 2024 uprising martyrs attended the event, said a press release.
Faculty of Business and Economics Dean Syed Masud Husain as the chief guest paid tribute to the martyrs and emphasised the importance of preserving the uprising’s values and aspirations.
“Universities have a vital responsibility to cultivate historical awareness, democratic values and a strong sense of civic responsibility among the younger generation,” he said.
Journalist and political analyst Arshad Mahmud as the special guest said understanding history enables young people to become responsible citizens and encouraged them to contribute to a just, democratic and progressive Bangladesh.
BUBT Vice-Chancellor ABM Shawkat Ali reaffirmed the university’s commitment to fostering patriotism, ethical values and social responsibility alongside academic excellence.
Speakers reflected on the uprising’s historical significance and paid tribute to the martyrs.
The programme concluded with a special prayer for the martyrs, recovery of the injured and continued peace and progress for the country.
