Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Mahfuj Alam has announced that Bangladesh Television (BTV) will be given autonomy as part of the government’s ongoing institutional reforms, aiming to turn the state broadcaster into a platform that represents all people and all political perspectives.
“From now on, BTV will belong to everyone, all parties and all people,” he said.
The adviser was addressing the prize-giving ceremony of Bangladesh Television’s (BTV) “Notun Kuri 2025” at Shapla Hall of the Chief Adviser’s Office.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus attended the event as the chief guest.
Explaining the reform plans, the adviser said BTV is being reshaped so it can better reflect Bangladesh’s culture, heritage and diversity.
“We are working to ensure that BTV does not become a tool for advancing the political interests of any party,” he said.
He also added that new reality shows and programmes featuring contestants of different ages and backgrounds will be introduced, with hopes that these initiatives will continue in the years ahead.
Congratulating the “Nutun Kuri” winners, Mahfuj Alam said the creativity and dedication of the young participants are a source of national inspiration.
“‘Nutun Kuri’ is not just a cultural competition, it is a new horizon for the younger generation and for a new Bangladesh,” he said.
“The children and young people who have excelled will carry the flag of a new Bangladesh forward through their talent and hard work.”
He encouraged the young artistes to continue their creative pursuits.
Government advisers, secretaries, officials, journalists, and the winning child artistes along with their guardians attended the event.
